C2.9 Copying and versioning a quote

A quote can be versioned — a new version in the same family, sharing the quote reference — or duplicated — an independent copy with a new reference. Both start from Version or duplicate at the top right of the quote, or from the quote's row menu on the Quotes page.

The Version or duplicate dialog

  • Version this quote — "Creates a new version in this family".

  • Duplicate — "Independent copy with a new reference".

  • Quote template and PDF quotation — the templates for the new quote. Default: the original's.

  • What to carry over — Header information (customer, dates and terms), Line items, and Documents & material match.

To create a new version

Before you begin

  • The original quote is the version you want to start from. Use the version switcher at the top right to move to it.

Procedure

  1. Open the quote. If it is locked, select Create new version in the lock banner. Otherwise select Version or duplicate, then Version this quote.

  2. Check the Quote template and PDF quotation, and change them if needed.

  3. Select what to carry over: Header information, Line items, Documents & material match.

  4. Confirm.

The new version opens as a Draft, numbered one higher than the highest version in the family, with a chip linking back to the version it came from. On the Quotes page the family's expander count goes up by one.

To duplicate a quote

Procedure

  1. Open the quote and select Version or duplicate, then Duplicate.

  2. Check the templates and select what to carry over.

  3. Confirm.

The copy opens as a Draft with its own reference and appears on the Quotes page as its own row.
